You ever get focused on something, ignoring several other same somethings?

I do.

I have been taking pictures of this patch of purple kohlrabi for weeks. They are big and beautiful thigh-high plants. Just simply gorgeous.

And whenever I take a picture, it’s like, “oh, yay… leaves.”

I mean, leaves are awesome and all – all the cool kids eat leaves – but that’s not the exciting part of kohlrabi.

It’s the alien flying-saucer appearance.

And finally, FINALLY I can show you more than just purple stems.

So I give you, purple kohlrabi.

And weeds. There are always weeds.

Do we have other patches of kohlrabi? Yes.

Other patches of purple kohlrabi? Also, yes.

Purple kohlrabi with bulbs already formed? Yes again.

Do I have any desire to take pictures of those kohlrabi plants? No.

For whatever reason, I have decided that the purple kohlrabi in the middle tunnel is the only kohlrabi that matters.

My brain is weird.

Gah, technology

Thank you to the person who let us know the website wasn’t working. 49 hours, 3 tech support people, and a team later (but who’s counting), and we’re back in business.

I still don’t understand what went wrong. And I don’t think they do either.

But, regardless, the website is working now.

So sorry if you tried to access the website in the past couple of days and you got an error message! It was not intentional!

New hours coming

This Monday 12/19 will be our last Monday open!

Hmmm, that sounds ominous when I put it that way.

We’re not closing closing, just adding a day off.

Starting December 26th we will be closed on both Sundays AND Mondays.

All other days remain the same (…except for these 2 holiday weeks when we’re closing at 3 on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve…).

Some seasonal inspiration:

Spicy Potato, Bok Choy, and Shallot Hash

 Acorn Squash Soup

 Garlicky Salmon Pasta with Escarole

Sauteed Chicken & Apples with Rosemary

Gajar ka Halwa  (carrot & cardamom dessert)

Happy Eating!

Elizabeth

Open Mon-Fri 9-6, Sat 9-5. Closed Sunday.

Closed Sundays & Mondays starting after Christmas.

This is one of the weekly newsletters that is emailed out every Saturday night (no more, no less). If you like the information make sure you sign up so you can get my (moderately snarky) writings delivered right to your inbox. You can read it on the website – obviously – but a copy of the newsletter isn’t posted to the website until several weeks later.
