Did you know you can make a simple syrup with forsythia blossoms?
Locate a forsythia bush by its bright yellow flowers in early spring, away from runoff or pesticide use
Gather about four cups worth of flowers, careful to not disturb any new leaves
Bring two cups of water and two cups of sugar to a boil stirring constantly, boil for 1 minute
Remove from heat, add flowers and let steep overnight
Strain through a fine strainer or cheesecloth and enjoy! Use as sweetener in drinks or over baked goods. Store in the fridge
