I tried to take a picture of the escarole showing how flat it looks in the field. But instead, it looks big and beautiful and vibrant. There goes that idea.

So um…. look at this pretty green escarole with scallions waving their arms behind that is actually shorter than it looks in this picture.

I just realized I could’ve used a tape measure to accurately depict the shortness. Oh well.

What makes it so exciting to see the tops of beets or carrots or parsnips poking through the ground? I mean, I don’t comb through the broccoli trying to take a picture of every head I see. But the shoulders of a daikon showing? I am there snapping shots from all the angles.

This one was especially cool because its friend was already harvested, so you could see deeper than the normal surface.

Don’t worry, you can say it: “Ooh, Ahh”

We’re trying a fun variety of gaillardia (blanket flowers) this year.

To me, it looks like a circle of heralders announcing my royal presence. I can just hear the fanfare: dah, duh-d-d-dah, duh-dahhhh, duhh-d-dahhhh, duh-duh-d-deh…. “All rise for her Majesty, Elizabeth, who is arriving home from a hard day at work.”

(I listened to way too many videos way too many times in order to come up with those trumpet dah, duh, dahhhs. Be impressed).

Obviously, your heralders would herald you, Protector of the [FIRST NAME GOES HERE]world, not me.
